Incentives, they matter. We sound like a broken record at this point, but that's only because just about everyone refuses to learned this lesson. In Italy, the left is learning that if you sell out your countrymen to overbearing, global elites that could care less about your countrymen's lowering standards of living, someone might come along (Giorgia Meloni) who they are highly incentivized to vote for. Incentives do most of the critical thinking leg-work in figuring out who had the most to gain in sabotaging the Nordstream Pipeline (hint: it isn't Russia). And, finally, incentives, particularly a lack of accountability, explain why Fauci got rich(er) during covid, why unaccountable bureaucracies like NIH don't care what you (the taxpayer) think about how it allocates its $45B budget; and why refusing to punish these bad actors always bears more of the same outcomes. We untangle it all for you on episode 115.
